Miss Carmen Elizabeth Smith, 12, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, MS, after sustaining a traumatic brain injury from an accident occurring while at the All American Youth Barrel Race.

 

She was born December 30, 2002, in Flowood, MS. She was entering the 7th grade at Choctaw County Junior High School, where she was a member of the Choctaw County Jr. High Cheerleader squad and the Choctaw County Jr. High Chorus . She was also a member of the Mid-South Little Britches Rodeo Assn., the National Little Britches Rodeo Assn., and the Magnolia Eastern Horse Show Assn. Carmen was also a member of Campground United Methodist Church.

 

Carmen, won the title of Miss Dixie National Sweetheart in 2012. She dreamed of one day being Miss Rodeo America. We are sure her crown in Heaven cannot match anything this earth has to offer.

 

Carmen's family and friends to keep her memory alive by conducting numerous fundraisers throughout the year. Donations from the benefits provide educational scholarships for several young men and women throughout the State of Mississippi.

 

Ride High, cowgirl. Your infectious laughter and smile are truly missed.
